* LowE Glass *

Comfort Ti-AC 36 has a low-emissivity (LowE) rating of .03, which calculates to a center-of-glass U-Value of .24*, making it a great insulator in winter. No other glass product provides better insulating value.

* Argon/Krypton Gas *

A major component of the unit’s overall thermal energy efficiency. Products with “clear” glass are the least efficient, while those with LowE are much more thermally effective. The better performing windows are those using LowE glass with Argon or Krypton gas. With this glass feature, all Ideal vinyl windows are ENERGY STAR qualified.

Argon is a safe, odorless, colorless, non-toxic, non-flammable inert gas that is commonly used in place of air between the glass panes of an insulated Low-E glass unit. Argon’s heat conductivity is lower than that of air, and thus it is a better insulator and contributes to a lower U-factor. Argon is not an effective solar performer by itself; that is why it is only used in conjunction with Low-E insulated glass.  Krypton gas is a rare atmospheric gas which is odorless, colorless, tasteless, nontoxic, monatomic and chemically inert. Similar to Argon gas, Krypton gas is three times heavier and provides superior thermal efficiency. Krypton gas works best in narrow air space, making it the best choice when used in triple pane glass. 


*Argon gas between the panes of glass will dissipate over time. Windows manufactured with argon gas can expect a 10% loss over 20 years.

* TRIPLE PANE GLASS *

The basic frame and sash design remain the same, but the insulating glass unit is comprised of three panes of glass, with the two resulting spaces filled with either argon or krypton gas. That, together with LowE coatings helps these windows achieve greater insulating values.

* FOAM-FILLED FRAME *

Foam filled frames can increase the insulating value of the window’s frame and sash members by up to 30%. This translates into a 3-8% improvement in the windows overall U-Value.

This injected foam expands to thoroughly fill each pocket, enhancing condensation resistance and improving frame rigidity.
